So I finally finished (good enough I guess) this claymore replacer I started on quite a few years ago. I've been learning how to use Blender the same time. And shout out: Greatness7 is brilliant and should get much credit for making the Blender nif exporter plugin!

Anyway, the vanilla steel claymore model and texture(s) is awful and a sword I've often felt annoyed with due to how bad it looks. So here's a replacer that you hopefully might enjoy more. I do at least. The model is made in Blender, is only one object and has one texture map. It's not like weapons are the ones to blame for Morrowind's crazy draw calls, but it's one thing of many, and this replacer will reduce the amount of draw calls this sword will produce.

It features a normal map and a specular map. I was going to bake the normal map from a high poly mesh, but I lack the time to do it, so this is generated from a texture. Of course I've put some time into making a good texture to generate it from, so it should look ok I hope. The specular map was hand made.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy it!

  1. This is a plugin-less mod, so no esp or omwaddon file is included.
  2. Install using your preferred method:
    1. Using OpenMW, you can follow this guide
    2. Using either OpenMW or Morrowind, you can use MO2. In OpenMW's case, with a plugin
    3. Just drop everything into your Morrowind Data Files folder. Not recommended and stupid.
  3. If you use OpenMW, make sure you enable "Auto use object normal maps" and "Auto use object specular maps" in the launcher
  4. Play!

The sword is some scottish claymore, so Bethedsa has not designed the sword. However, I have some Akatosh symbols on it, so please only use it in Morrowind. Otherwise, feel free to use it however you want as long as you give credit.

I might make a version later where I simply remove the Akatosh symbols and release that as CC-BY or similar.

      Vanilla-friendly West Gash Tree Replacer
      by Melchior Dahrk This replacer was created as an alternative for players who desire a look closer to the vanilla game for the region. The vanilla models were smoothed, optimized, had their UVs tweaked, or were just made from scratch in some cases. The West Gash tree set is pretty sparse of leaves in the vanilla game with only 2 out of 8 models having leaves on them. But those two models have been overhauled with more leaf models added to make them look fuller; and new twig and limb models have been added to all trees to improve the detail, even when up close.
      This is both a model and texture replacer for the West Gash trees. The textures have been modified to match the vanilla colors and style but are high resolution.
      The stump and root models in the West Gash have also been included. With more detail being added and smoothing the meshes.
      This mod also affects gameplay by improving the accuracy of the collision models on the trees so you can now stand on limbs. This was accomplished with no performance impact by splitting up the collision model into multiple pieces (collision is calculated in a radius around each individual model).
      ***There are two options for the leaf textures. If you prefer the lighter, leafier version, be sure to install the "01 Leafy" folder and place it in your Data Files/Textures folder!
